FWS Seeks Public Comments on Multiple Endangered Species Act Permit Applications

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service published notice that it has received the following Endangered Species Act (ESA) permit applications:

  • Dovetail Genomics seeks an ESA permit to import biological samples from wild hawksbill sea turtles from Singapore for scientific research;
  • U.C. Davis Wildlife Health Center seeks an ESA permit to import biological samples from wild hoolock gibbons from Myanmar for scientific research;
  • Loma Linda University seeks an ESA permit to import biological samples from multiple wild sea turtle species from Honduras for scientific research;
  • Dallas Zoo seeks an ESA permit to export one harpy eagle to Weltvogelpark Walstrode in Germany for enhancement of survival of the species;
  • Rare Species Conservatory Foundation seeks captive bred wildlife registration for red bowed parrots;
  • California Academy of Sciences seeks an ESA permit to export and reimport nonliving museum specimens; and
  • Nine individuals seek ESA permits to import the trophies of captive bonteboks they killed in South Africa.

The public comment period for each of the applications is open through August 19, 2022.
