The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announced its proposal to implement a flexible shortfin mako shark retention limit (defined as a cap on the number of animals a fisher may catch and keep during a single fishing trip) of zero in commercial and recreational Atlantic highly migratory species fisheries. NMFS is accepting public comments on its proposal through May 11, 2022.
