USDA Updates Requirements for Certified Organic Dairy Producers

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agriculture Marketing Services announced a change to the agency’s organic regulations that now will require organic milk and organic milk products to be from animals who have been under continuous organic management from the last third of the gestation period onward. The new rule becomes effective June 6, 2022, and certified organic operations will be required to demonstrate compliance as of April 5, 2023.
