The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California has granted the California Attorney General’s motion to dismiss the Iowa Pork Producers Association’s (IPPA) request for injunctive relief in its lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of California’s Proposition 12––which prohibits the sale of whole pork meat from pigs whose mothers are “confined in a cruel manner” and are not provided with at least twenty-four square feet of usable floor space per breeding pig. In its order, the court gave IPPA 14 days to amend its complaint given its findings that IPPA “failed to plead any viable underlying claims.”
