New Jersey Senate Bill 1736, “Chiara’s Law,” previously introduced in 2020 as Assembly Bill 1192, has been reintroduced and would prohibit shelters or pounds from euthanizing animals for anything other than health or safety reasons. The bill has not yet been referred to a committee.
