The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announced its consideration of a proposed incidental harassment authorization (IHA) requested by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in connection with NOAA’s dock construction project in Ketchikan, Alaska. NOAA is seeking an IHA to harass, primarily through the acoustic impacts of dock removal and replacement, Dall’s porpoise, Stellar sea lions, Pacific white-sided dolphins, killer whales, gray whales, minke whales, harbor seals, harbor porpoises, and humpback whales during construction between February 1, 2022, and January 31, 2023. NMFS is accepting public comments through January 3, 2022.
