North Carolina Considers Protecting Pollinators with Prohibition on Neonicotinoid Pesticides

North Carolina House Bill 828, the Pollinator Protection Act of 2021, would prohibit the distribution, sale, or transport of neonicotinoid pesticides “unless the seller is authorized to sell a restricted use pesticide” by the Pesticide Board. The bill would also prohibit the use of neonicotinoid pesticides unless the person is licensed as an applicator by the Pesticide Board, is a farmer using the pesticide for agricultural purposes, or is a veterinarian using the pesticide in the practice of veterinary medicine.
