The National Marine Fisheries Service has issued a proposed rule and request for comments on the removal of a coral, Siderastrea glynni, from the list of species protected by the Endangered Species Act. The agency has determined that “S. glynni does not meet the statutory definition of a species, and therefore does not qualify for listing under the ESA.” The agency is accepting comments on the proposal until July 6, 2021.
