Arizona Bill Would Prohibit Cat Declawing Without Therapeutic Purpose

Arizona House Bill 2626 would prohibit the performance of a declawing, onychectomy, or tendonectomy on a cat unless it is performed for a “therapeutic purpose,” defined as “for the purpose of addressing an existing or recurring infection, disease, injury or abnormal condition in the claw that jeopardizes an animal’s health and for which addressing the infection, disease, injury or abnormal condition is a medical necessity.”
