USDA issues three Grants of Inspection, cultivated meat OK'd for sale in US
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that it has approved Grants of Inspection for the production facilities of Upside Foods and Good Meat on June 21, 2023. With this approval, Upside Foods now may start commercial production and sales of its cultivated chicken, which it plans to launch at Michelin-star chef Dominique Crenn’s San Francisco restaurant, Bar Crenn. Good Meat’s cultivated chicken is scheduled make its debut at one of Chef José Andrés’ Washington, D.C. restaurants. This is a significant milestone in the development of an industry that has the potential to substantially reduce the use of animals in food production.
