During a meeting of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) on October 21st, fifteen pro-whaling nations walked out on a vote on whether to establish a whale sanctuary in the South Atlantic. The mass walkout meant that there were not enough nations present to vote on the initiative and the decision will have to be postponed until next year’s meeting of the IWC.
