A twenty-three-year-old man was charged with animal cruelty after allegedly beating a Canada goose to death in the Thunder Bay Intercity area on the evening of July 25th. Officers responded to reports that a group of male individuals had “mutilated” a live goose. The accused allegedly threw the carcass into the river, and officers located the body and three men nearby. The man was charged with cruelty to animals and causing unnecessary pain, suffering, or injury, in addition to being charged for failure to comply with a probation order. A Thunder Bay Police Service spokesperson stated that an investigation is ongoing and could result in additional charges for other members of a group who may have participated. Police stated that a witness captured video recording of the event that was potentially helpful for the investigation.
