Animal Alliance of Canada, Animal Justice, Humane Society International Canada, International Fund for Animal Welfare, and Wolf Awareness Inc. submitted a joint position to Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) calling on the agency to amend the Pest Control Products Act. The submission asks the agency to (i) require authorities to consider animal distress when considering pest control products, (ii) permit pest products that cause distress to only be used as a last resort, (iii) modernize and narrow the definition of “pest”, and (iv) increase resources to oversee proper pest control product use and record keeping.
