A twenty-nine year old man, Tyler Bezanson, of Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, was charged with five provincial counts of permitting an animal to be in distress. The Nova Scotia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) states that his five dogs were found starving and neglected. After receiving a call on June 7th that multiple dogs were suffering from neglect, SPCA Enforcement Officers seized the dogs upon witnessing their living conditions and ailing physical appearance. The dogs were all taken for veterinary care, and the SPCA stated that they are now on a special feeding schedule, gaining weight and energy. They are not ready for adoption or visitors. The SPCA found after an investigation that there was sufficient evidence to support charges against Bezanson, who is scheduled to appear before Annapolis provincial court on September 19th.
