Private Member's Bill Introduced Would Ban Fur Farming in Canada

With the commencement of the new federal legislative session, many new bills have been introduced in the House of Commons. Among those bills is Bill C-247: An Act to Prohibit Fur Farming. The private member's bill by Liberal MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, would ban fur farming in Canada. Specific prohibitions include prohibiting owning or operating a fur farm, breeding fur-bearing animals for the purpose of fur farming and slaughtering a fur-bearing animal to use its pelt for commercial purposes.
