Michigan Bill Would Regulate Dealers and Research Facilities Using Dogs and Cats

Michigan House Bill 4881 would require research facilities and dealers that provide animals to research facilities to maintain records regarding the sale, transportation, and handling of dogs and cats used in laboratory research. The bill would alsomrequire that research facilities offer dogs and cats no longer being used in research to an animal shelter before euthanizing them and would provide civil immunity for research facilities and animal shelters for the transfer of such animals as long as they acted in good faith.
