West Virginia Bill Would Provide Specifics for Appropriate Treatment of Animals

West Virginia House Bill 2561 would provide definitions for the food, water, and shelter that must be provided to animals and limit how and in what conditions animals may be harnessed. The bill also provides for the immediate seizure of animals “if risk of harm or death is likely” and requires that anyone convicted of violating the statute be placed on a publicly available “do not adopt or sell registry.”
