UPSIDE Food Announces USDA Approval of its Label for “Cell-Cultivated Chicken”

UPSIDE Foods announced it has received regulatory approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Food Safety Inspection Service for its label for “cell-cultivated chicken,” making it the first cultivated meat company in the United States to secure such approval. UPSIDE also was the first company to receive production approval for cultivated chicken from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. The company now just needs to receive a Grant of Inspection from USDA for its Engineering, Production, and Innovation Center facility in California before it can produce and sell cultivated chicken in the U.S.
