West Hollywood Becomes First U.S. City to Ban the Use and Sale of Glue Traps

The City of West Hollywood, California unanimously enacted an ordinance banning the use and sale of all animal glue traps, including fly strips. The ordinance’s definition of “animal” explicitly includes insects. Previously, West Hollywood similarly was the first city in the nation to ban cat declawing in 2003 and the first to ban the sale of fur products in 2011.
