Halal Meat Company Faces DOJ Civil Action for Violating Federal Meat and Poultry Inspection Laws

The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), filed a civil action under the Federal Meat Inspection Act and the Poultry Products Inspection Act against a New York-based halal food distribution company the USDA alleges has repeatedly offered meats that were not properly inspected despite several warnings from the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. The U.S. government is seeking permanent injunctive relief.
