The Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) sent a notice of intent to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) for failing to respond to a January 2019 petition to prohibit nearly all uses of pesticides in areas designated as critical habitat for endangered species. CBD alleges that FWS has failed to implement any meaningful conservation measures since the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released assessments finding that various pesticides are causing grave harm to many of the nation’s most endangered plants and animals.
