FWS Commences 12-Month Status Review to Determine Whether ESA Protections Are Warranted for the Common Hippopotamus

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service announced it is initiating a status review to determine whether listing the common hippopotamus under the Endangered Species Act may be warranted. Based on the status review, FWS will issue a 12-month petition finding and determination of whether listing is warranted. FWS will consider public comments received during the status review.
