Texas Bill Would Impose Restrictions on Where Pet Stores May Source Dogs and Cats

Texas House Bill 3563 would prohibit pet stores in counties of more than 200,000 people from selling dogs and cats unless they are acquired from a shelter, rescue group, or a “qualified breeder” who has not been issued certain Animal Welfare Act noncompliances in the previous four years. The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Business and Industry.
