USFWS Seeks Comment on Designating Critical Habitat for Miami Tiger Beetle Where Amusement Park is Planned

The USFWS is proposing to designate 1,977 acres in Miami-Dade County, Florida as critical habitat for the Miami tiger beetle. The insect was granted endangered species listing protection in 2016, but the USFWS had not yet made its legally-required critical habitat designation. The proposal may impact development plans for a waterpark at Zoo Miami which is adjacent to the designated habitat. USFWS is accepting comments on specific topics relating to this critical habitat listing through November 8, 2021.
