Bill Would Require More Rigorous Animal Welfare Act Enforcement

House Resolution 1788 would amend the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) by requiring the U.S. Department of Agriculture to conduct more frequent and thorough inspections of AWA licensees, report all AWA violations, confiscate suffering animals, and close existing loopholes. The bill was introduced by Representative Nicole Malliotakis and has been referred to the House Committee on Agriculture.
