North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper signed Senate Bill 388, which expands the sales tax exemption for farmers to include farmers who also operate roadside zoos. Under the new legislation, items “used for the housing, raising, or feeding of animals for public display” are exempt from sales and use tax. The new law becomes effective January 1, 2023.
