Certain Montana Meat Processors Now May Export Without Federal Inspections

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that it finalized a Cooperative Interstate Shipment (CIS) agreement with the State of Montana under which selected state-inspected meat and poultry processors may legally ship their products across state lines. Since the CIS program first launched in 2012, eleven states have entered a CIS agreement with FSIS to allow state-inspected meat processors who meet federal standards to ship out of state.
