Maryland House Bill 1352 would establish a Correctional Facilities Health and Wellness Pilot Program which would provide at least one plant-based meal and beverage option to all inmates at least once a week and to any inmate at any meal upon request. The bill further would allow inmates to elect certain dietary restrictions without demonstrating any underlying religious basis. The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Health and Government Operations and the House Judiciary Committee.
