The Humane Society of the United States, Humane Society International, and the Center for Biological Diversity have sued the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, alleging that the FWS has violated the Endangered Species Act by allowing the import of trophy-hunted leopards without an ESA permit and by failing to respond to the Plaintiffs’ 2016 petition to uplist the African leopard from “threatened” to “endangered.” Plaintiffs are seeking declaratory and injunctive relief, including an order requiring FWS to respond to the 2016 uplisting petition.
