Animal Futures. Animal Rights in Academia and Activism

The international animal rights conference organised by NGO Loomus, Estonian Vegan Society and Kuulitalu is going to be held for the sixth time on May 8th and 9th, this year taking place online.

Attendance at the English-language conference “Animal Futures. Animal Rights in Academia and Activism” is free of charge and registration is now open to all. The conference centres on the future of human-animal relations in a rapidly changing world.

“This year’s conference features a number of leading international researchers from the field of Critical Animal Studies as well as exciting presentations from activists. The themes span from activism on the streets of Madrid to the image of veganism in the Estonian media outlets,” explained Kadri Aavik, one of the organisers and sociologist at Tallinn University.

Over the two days of the conference, more than 20 talks will be given by presenters from universities and organisations from the USA, Japan, Mexico, Finland, Sweden and a number of other European countries, including Estonia.

Anyone interested in animal-human relations as well as contemporary research and thought on animal protection and nature conservancy is warmly welcome. Participants can just listen in or ask questions and share their thoughts as well.
