Defenders of Wildlife, et al., v U.S> Fish and Wildlife Service, et al.; Wildearth Guardians, et al., v. U.S. Department of the Interior, et al.; Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc., v. U.S. Department of the Interior, et al.
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) issued a final rule restoring Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves in all areas where the species was listed prior to a November 3, 2020, rule removing the gray wolf from the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife. FWS took this action to comply with a February 10, 2022, order entered by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California that vacated the agency’s 2020 rule.
