Online Webinar

Panelists:

Mary Lee Jensvold, PhD, Primate Communication Scientist/Associate Director, Fauna Foundation

Lori Marino, PhD, Neuroscientist, President, Whale Sanctuary Project and Exec. Dir. The Kimmela Center (Host)

Chimpanzees and dolphins have been used extensively in research. Both panelists have spent many years as researchers studying these large-brained highly social and self-aware mammals. And both have – independently – become scholar-advocates for their research subjects – using their scientific skills, expertise, and experience to advocate for their protection, welfare, and rights. Both advocate for legal personhood for chimpanzees and dolphins. And both have come to realize that sanctuaries are the only ethical alternative to laboratories, zoos and marine parks.
