Animal Law Fundamentals is a documentary-style series of video presentations and scholarly papers on the fundamentals of animal law by some of North America’s notable animal law scholars. These videos and scholarly papers will continue to roll out over the next six months. The goal of this series is to make the fundamentals of animal law readily accessible to the public from premier subject matter experts.

Brooks Congress 2022

In March 2022, the Brooks Institute convened the annual Brooks Congress. The Congress brought together leading scholars, advocates, and thinkers in the animal law and protection community. This year’s theme was “Bigger Thinking in Affecting Change for Animal Law and the Animal Protection Community.”

Brooks Congress 2020

In February 2020, the Brooks Institute held its inaugural Brooks Congress. They hosted approximately 80 of the most influential participants in the animal protection community designed to create an environment of new thinking, inspiration, community building, and collaboration on the theme of bigger thinking in effecting change.

Animal Legal and Policy Studies Summit 2019

In May 2019, the Brooks Institute hosted its inaugural Animal Legal and Policy Studies Summit. Video interviews were conducted relating to a participant’s own research, endeavors, views on the past, present, and future of the participant’s field, and the participant’s assessment of the biggest challenges in research and practice facing animal protection efforts.
