Ontario has passed Bill 156, the Security from Trespass and Protecting Food Safety Act, which could make it illegal for employee whistleblowers to expose animal abuse and other violations on animal farming operations.

Michigan Considers Ban on Using Dogs in Animal Research
June 17, 2020

Michigan Senate Bill 0971 proposes to prohibit conducting research or training activities on dogs “in a manner that causes pain and distress.” A violation of this ban would be punishable by a fine of between $1000 and $5000.

Court Upholds Grizzly Killing Plan
June 15, 2020

A D.C. federal judge has declined to issue a preliminary injunction prohibiting the implementation of the U.S. Forest Service’s plan to allow for the killing of some grizzly bears on land used for cattle grazing. The plan was challenged by several environmental groups.

Groups Challenge Trump’s Rescission of Fishing Ban in Marine Monument
June 17, 2020

Groups including the Conservation Law Foundation, National Resources Defense Council, and the Center for Biological Diversity have filed suit against the Trump administration, challenging the President’s rescission of a fishing ban in a marine monument off the coast of Cape Cod.

The Center for Biological Diversity, Desert Survivors, Western Watersheds Project, and WildEarth Guardians have given notice that they intend to file suit against the Trump administration over its decision to not classify the bistate sage grouse as an endangered species.
